I still remember the sinking feeling in my stomach when I realized what I’d done.

There I was, 17 years old, carefully sealing my university application for an undergraduate degree in English Literature…my dream degree, my perfectly planned path to becoming a writer!

I spent days crafting that application, making sure to highlight my impeccable straight-A record for English all through school…

Imagining myself in cavernous lecture halls discussing Victorian novels, seeing my future as clear as day 🤩

But when I went to post that application, I made what felt like the most devastating mistake anyone could ever make in that situation…

I sent it to the wrong address 😅

By the time I realized what I’d done, it was too late to resubmit. The deadline had passed. My carefully constructed plan crumbled in a single moment of inattention.

I was heartbroken!  This was supposed to be MY path 💔

But here’s an unassailable truth I’ve come to know… the Universe always dreams a bigger dream for us than we can possibly dream for ourselves.

Because I missed the English Literature deadline, through a series of unplanned events, I ended up studying Physics instead. 

Physics! Me, the girl who lived and breathed prose!

And here’s what happened next…

That “wrong” path led me to engineering, where I met and married the love of my life and together, we traveled the world for work and adventure.

I eventually became a writer anyway…just not the way I’d planned 💖

I started as a rookie journalist writing science and tech articles before getting promoted to a senior position. Then I explored travel writing, magazine writing, freelance writing focused on personality profiles (I won an award for one of those 🤩) before wandering into the world of online writing and copywriting.

If I’d sent that application to the right address, I never would have met my husband. I never would have had the travels and experiences that shaped who I am today.

I never would have developed the unique perspective that merges science and spirituality for effortless manifesting.

That “wrong” address wasn’t wrong at all.

The Universe was redirecting me toward a life so much richer and more expansive than anything I could have dreamed up at 18 (or even now!)

So the next time you have a “wrong address” moment, hold this in your heart…
